With October in full swing, it is once again Breast Cancer Awareness (BCA) Month and we get the opportunity to purchase products that give back to fund research and support to fight breast cancer.  With so many cool pink products to choose from, I brought my picks and some of these make great holiday gift ideas, too.  Take a look at my pink picks....

Local Company Teresa's Creative Gifts -- I love this local company because her products are always unique and well made, so I was thrilled to see her offer some BCA products that give back.  BCA month is important to business owner Teresa because she had a walnut-sized lump removed from her breast when she was nine months pregnant with her fourth daughter 20 years ago.  Fortunately, it was benign, but she has never forgotten how that affected her.  She also survived thyroid cancer when she was 19, so Teresa tells me that the "C" word has punctured her soul and she says that 30 years later she is still here, so take that, cancer!  I love her spirit and I love her BCA products.  My two favorites are the comfy pink and white Snoozies slippers that are adorned in the breast cancer pink symbol and the very stylish pink and grey BCA ball cap.  The slippers sell for $12 each or buy two pairs for $20 and the attractive herringbone breast cancer cadet style cap sells for $20.  Both can be ordered at Teresa's Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Teresas-Creative-Gifts/122063664505003?ref=br_tf.  Simply go to the page, like it and then all of her awesome items can be ordered.  She has tons of additional great gift ideas as well.  I order from her a lot and I love everything that I have purchased.  I get tons of compliments on flip flops and shirts that I have ordered from her company.

Give a Beautiful Recovery Bag to a Breast Cancer Patient -- KIND Healthy Snacks has teamed up with Radiation Oncologist Dr. Elizabeth Thompson to create the perfect gift for a woman facing breast cancer surgery. The Breast BFFL (Best Friends for Life) Bag is stuffed with amazing goodies to help a patient recover from breast cancer surgery.  The bag is a beautiful bright pink quilted tote that contains: a box of KIND bars, BFFL Co's exclusive axillapilla underarm comfort pillow; an expandable folder for important papers and cards; an amusements pack; a wound drain care pack; toiletries; skin care gift set; a collapsible water bottle, and more.  BFFL Co. was started by Dr. Thompson, a physician who made the decision to undergo a prophylactic mastectomy because of her family history of breast cancer. The cost is $100 for this jam packed bag full of beneficial healing and comfort tools.  Throughout October, for each bag purchased, BFFL Co will donate $15 and KIND will donate an extra $5 to Friends Fighting Breast Cancer. Consumers will also have the option to "do the KIND thing" by purchasing a bag to be donated to a brave, anonymous women currently recovering at one of five underserved hospitals across the US.  To order a bag, please click this link: http://bfflco.com/bffl-co-announces-the-2013-limited-edition-breast-bfflbag/  or call 1-855-BFFLBAG (1-855-233-5224).   Visit www. BFFLCo.com to see the complete line of fashionable bags, bras and surgical accessories -  all designed to improve the patient experience.

Bio-Oil Donates -- The very beneficial multi-use skincare oil, Bio-Oil has also donated products that are included in the BFFL bag.  This oil is terrific because it works great for reducing the appearance of post-surgery scars and it is helpful for stretch marks, uneven skin tone, aging skin, dehydrated skin and more.  To learn more about Bio-Oil® visit www.bio-oilusa.com.  Bio-Oil was personally selected by Dr. Thompson to include in her offerings as her recommended solution to help women heal and treat their breast surgical scars. BFFL Co donates 15% of the proceeds from breast BFFL Bags to a breast cancer charity.

Philosophy's shower for a cure shampoo, bath & shower gel -- Every October, philosophy donates 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of the line's shower for a cure shampoo, bath & shower gel, so this is such a great product to purchase and it sells for only $20 at www.philosophy.com.   The philosophy brand is also sold at local philosophy stores, Beauty Brands, Nordstrom and Ulta beauty stores.

RapidLash Eyelash & Eyebrow Enhancing Serum -- RapidLash Eyelash and Eyebrow Enhancing Serum is donating 5% of proceeds in October to the American Cancer Society in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month.  RapidLash Eyelash and Eyebrow Enhancing Serum contain pumpkin seed extract along with other ingredients that condition, strengthen, and create fuller looking lashes and brows.  Dermatologist and ophthalmologist tested, RapidLash is safe and easy to use - just apply it once nightly to your lashes and brows and see results in as little as 30 days.  RapidLash sells for $49.95 at CVS and www.RapidLash.com.

Paul Mitchell Girls Are Alright Campaign -- Paul Mitchell has come out with a Limited-Edition “The Girls Are Alright” Collection.  A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these items are given to the National Breast Cancer Research Foundation.  Paul Mitchell is inspiring women to take matters into their own hands, and make sure their “girls are alright.” In support of the National Breast Cancer Research Foundation, limited-edition Paul Mitchell tools and styling products are emblazoned with bold words of encouragement, to help spread the message that “early detection rulez.”  Details at www.paulmitchell.com/en-us/TheBuzz/Pink/Pages/Home.aspx
The Phoenix Paul Mitchell school is participating in bake sales every Tuesday and Saturday and they are conducting “dress-down days” every Tuesday.  On Friday, October 25, 2013, the Phoenix School will have a haunted house open to the public in effort to raise money to go toward the fundraising. They also have a cut-a-thon coming up on Sunday, October 27, 2013. They are wearing the ribbons and promoting awareness to all of their guests, etc.  All of the funds raised in the above efforts will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. The Phoenix Paul Mitchell School is located at 3423 W. Bethany Home Road and the phone number is 602-246-1616.

The cool Paul Mitchell Girls Are Alright products are sold at local Paul Mitchell salons and include:

Pretty Pink Tote That Gives Back -- The Built Pink Gourmet Getaway Tote  sells for $24.99 at www.builtny.com and national retail locations.  This tote is the gold standard among insulated lunch bags. Unlike brown bags, you'll reuse this insulated lunch bag over and over again and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Susan G. Komen organization.

A Refreshing Beverage Gives Back -- As part of the Sparkling ICE mission to Imagine a World Without Breast Cancer from October 1-31 Sparkling ICE donates 1¢ per bottle of Pink Grapefruit Sparkling ICE to help find a cure for Breast Cancer.  Best of all, proceeds go directly back to the community where the product was sold.  By working closely with each community, Sparkling ICE allows them to select the charity right in their region that they would most like to offer the donations to (i.e. Susan G. Komen Affiliates, Local/Regional Breast Cancer Research Foundations, etc.).  Sparkling Ice is a great tasting, refreshing, zero-calorie beverage.  Sparkling ICE combines naturally flavored sparkling mountain spring water, vitamins, antioxidants and natural fruit juices to offer a bold, lightly carbonated beverage.  So pick up some refreshing Pink Grapefruit Sparkling Ice at Safeway and Fry's stores.  More details at www.sparklingice.com.
