PHOENIX -- Earth Day is coming up on April 22, so I decided to give a shout-out to some companies that produce products that are earth-friendly. Read on to see green cleaning products, cosmetics, clothing and more. The items below are green and good!
For your home
*JAWS (Just Add Water System) Cleaner Line -- This innovative cleaning product line gets it right, both environmentally and price-wise. First the cleaner does not contain any alcohol or ammonia, which I like. And it is green because when the product runs out of cleaner, the consumer can simply reuse the original container with the handy little refill tube that comes with the product. Simply fill the empty bottle water, insert the refill tube into the container and you have a full bottle of cleaner again, without ever having to throw out the original container.
And when that runs out, consumers only have to purchase the 2-pack cartridge refill set and not a new bottle. This keeps tons of empty bottles out of our landfills and the refill cartridge can be recycled, so it is a win-win. This is such a great and green idea. And the stuff works very well on everything, especially my countertops! JAWS sells at Bashas.
Plus here is some money-saving good news -- April 18-24 JAWS will sell for half off for the cleaner bottle (which includes one refill cartridge) and half off of an additional two-pack of refill cartridges at Bashas. The sale price is $2.50 for the cleaner bottle with one included refill and $2 for the 2-set refill cartridge pack.
*Wayfair.com -- This unique website offers cool eco-friendly home items. I like the blankets that are made from recycled cotton yams. I especially like the In2Green Sea Star Eco-Friendly Blanket that is earth-friendly and very comfy. Wayfair.com is an awesome online home retailer.
*Farberware EcoWare Biodegradables -- This the coolest Tupperware that I've found yet because each container is safe to recycle and is BPA free. Order at farberwarefoodstorage.com.
*Shaklee Cleaning Products -- Oprah has raved about this line on her show and this is what she uses in her home. Shaklee introduced their product called Basic H2 back in 1960 and was one of the first companies to introduce a non-toxic and biodegradable cleaning product. Basic H has been selected as an official Earth Day product. To learn more and to order the Shaklee line visit www.lascruces.myshaklee.com.
For your body
*Seaweed Bath Co. -- This unique body, shampoo and conditioner line packs their product in containers that are made with 100% post-consumer resin. For more information, visit seaweedbathco.com.
RA Apparel -- This brand new downtown Phoenix business creates beautiful clothing for women and children using organic and recycled material. Plus owner, Roman Acevedo also donates boxes of freshly sewn garments to children in need, giving them a week's worth of clothing with each donation. American-made clothing while revitalizing downtown by operating his earth-friendly business in a old warehouse that Roman has nicely restored. Check out RA Apparel at raapparelfortheworld.com.
*Preserve Toothbrush -- This awesome toothbrush line is made from recycled yogurt cups and when you are ready for a fresh toothbrush, the package is ready for recycling. Simply toss your old toothbrush into the original package that comes complete with a postage paid mailer. Mail back and it will be recycled. This company makes it extremely easy for customers to have white teeth in a green world. Kudos! I buy mine at Trader Joes stores!
*My Daddy's Shirt Upcycled Boutique -- This is one cool local green product idea! Phoenix Dad Chris Marchini has a company called My Daddy's Shirt Upcycled Boutique and he takes old t-shirts and makes them into hand-made, one-of-a-kind children's clothing. Such a cool and green idea and his styles are adorable! Check out his line at mydaddysshirtboutique.com or visit his Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/mydaddysshirt.
