Hard to believe that summer flew by this quickly, but it did and it is time for the kiddos to head back to school, so let the school year shopping begin.  I did some research to find what deals and steals are out there, so read on.  Happy school shopping!

School Supplies:

*Toys R Us -- I was surprised to learn that Toys R Us sells a lot of school supplies and they have some pretty good deals, too.  One of my mom pals told me that she bought a backpack there for her Kindergartner and that they received a free lunchbox kit with their purchase.  Toys R Us tells me that the purchased backpack must cost $12.99 or more to get the free lunch kit.

*Walgreens -- If you need multiple back packs, check out Walgreens' deal.  Get one backpack for only $10.99 and get the second one free.  Walgreens is also selling rulers for 19 cents each and bright-colored pencil boxes for only 99 cents each.  Plus a flash drive, which regularly sells for $23.99 is on sale for only $10 and cap erasers are going for only 59 cents.  Get two high lighters for only $1.  All prices are good through September 8th.

*Office Max -- Each week through August, Office Max has one back-to-school item that is free with a minimum purchase.  For example, last week customers only had to spend $5 and they received 10 free folders in all different colors.  What is really cool about this promotion is that you can keep the free items for yourself or you can donate them to a charity called A Day Made Better through Office Max.  All free items that are donated are given to a classroom in need through this program.  I like that idea a lot, so we plan to do some of our shopping at Office Max to help support the cause.  Office Max will continue to give away free items each week with a $5 purchase over the next couple of weeks.

Office Max is also helping you with your kids' shoe needs.  With any Office Max purchase of any amount, customers receive a $10 off coupon at Payless Shoesource.  The Payless coupon is good for $10 off a $25 purchase or more through August 19th, so go to Office Max first and then go shoe shopping.  This is a great deal.

The Office Max located on Ray Rd. and 48th Street in Ahwatukee is selling a box of 24 crayons for 10 cents until supplies run out.  You can't beat that!

*Forever Frogs -- Here is an attractive line of custom-designed back packs that make a difference!  For every backpack, messenger or lunch bag that you design and order from Forever Frogs, the company donates a portion of the proceeds to The Payton Wright Foundation.  Payton Wright was a precious little girl who bravely lost her hard-fought battle with brain cancer when she was only 5 years old.  She adored and was inspired by frogs, hence the name Forever Frogs.  And the backpack styles are unique, since they are designed by you. Prices are $69 for a customized backpack that has two side pockets and one large front pocket with a snap closure.  These backpacks are pricy, but if you want to support a very special cause and if your child desires a super unique, one-of-a-kind backpack, then check out this very special line.

School Clothes:

*JC Penney -- JC Penney also houses salons in their stores and all kids' haircuts for children aged Kindergarten through 6th grade are FREE the entire month of August, so that is a cool promotion to know about!  Customers must make a salon appointment by calling 1-855-527-5437 or contact a local JC Penney near you.

JC Penney also sells school uniform pieces that start as low as $10 and go up from there.  The retailer is also excited to announce the launch of a fun new line called DREAMPOP by Cynthia R.  They also have cool Varsity styles and London looks, too.  My 10-year-old daughter voted JC Penney as her favorite shop for stylish school year clothes and I like the prices.  For example, I bought her a nice pair of red skinny jeans for only $18, a blue tee with the British flag only cost me $6 and I paid $14 for a quality pair of Bermuda denim shorts.  All perfect for school.

*Kohl's -- My teenage son loves the NFL team apparel that Kohl's sells and the price is right for me, too.  I bought him a nice official Arizona Cardinals shirt that was marked down to $22 from the original $28 price.  That is what I paid when I shopped there last weekend, so I contacted Kohl’s to see what big deals are coming up.  They told me that customers can shop the Kohl’s Biggest Back to School Sale this weekend that goes Friday through Sunday, August 3-5th.  Kohl’s will feature incredible values during the Night Owl hours on Friday from 3 p.m. to midnight and on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.  So shop late on Friday and early on Saturday morning to grab some great values.

Another great Kohl’s promotion to know about is the Kohl’s Cash Back deal.  Shop this Friday, August 3rd through Tuesday, August 7th, and get $10 Kohl's Cash back for every $50 spent (in store or online), with no earn limit!  The Kohl’s cash coupon can be used toward future purchases in store or on Kohls.com and it is good on all brands and sale prices. It's like getting paid to shop!

*Justice -- Justice tends to be pricy, but there is a money-saving promotion that the company is doing this month.  Spend $50 and you receive one $25 fun card that can be used August 14th through November 21st.  So if your daughter has her heart set on some Justice wear, buy $50 worth of merchandise now and then return to the store August 13th - November 21st to buy more clothing for half the price.  And register with Justice to receive 40% off coupons in the mail.

More School Clothes:  My Favorite Consignment Shops:

*Love Child Style Exchange -- Formally Buffalo Exchange, this store has a new name and a pretty new location at McClintock and Guadalupe, right next door to Trader Joes.  Love Child is one of my daughter's favorite shops to find gently used clothing that are very stylish.  Plus when you bring in your kids' stuff, you can either get cash or store credit.  In addition to boys and girls styles and shoes, baby gear, books, hair accessories and more fill the store.  And be sure to get on their email list to get coupons and offers emailed to you.  I just redeemed my 10% coupon for added savings!  And big news for the store…they just started carrying brand new Vans unisex tennis shoes.  Selection is limited with only sizes youth 13 and toddler 5 right now, but they start at only $18 and they may be getting more in, so check with Love Child.

*Kid to Kid -- With 5 different locations in Ahwatukee, Scottsdale, Gilbert, Paradise Valley and Peoria, there is bound to be a store near you.  This consignment store has steals on gently used clothing for boys and girls from infant sizes on up.  Popular brands are priced at up to 70% off and customers can earn cash up front or get 20% more in store credit when you bring in clothing and shoes that is in good condition that your kids have outgrown.
