Local Youth Hockey Team Captures Silver Medal in National Championship
by:  Rachel Harris, Managedmoms.com

Here's proof that desert kids can play good hockey even though they live in year round warm temperatures with no snow in sight.  The Arizona Hockey Union Midget U16AA team flew 2,000 miles to Reston, Virginia to compete in the 2014 USA Hockey National 2A Division tournament.  They proudly brought home the silver medal.  They went undefeated against teams from New Jersey, Alaska and Portland until they lost the championship in overtime to the East Coast Eagles from North Carolina.  They fought hard and had a terrific record....

5-2 WIN vs., NoVa Ice Dogs
3-2 WIN vs. Portland Jr. Hawks
5-3 WIN vs. South Central Wolves
2-1 WIN vs. Palm Beach Blackhawks (quarter final)
4-3 OT WIN vs. Red Bank Generals (semi final)
2-3 OT LOSS vs. East Coast Eagles Championship game

The team consists of 17 players, aged 15 through 17 years old, from Chandler, Ahwatukee and Gilbert and they are coached by Head Coach Sean Hill and Assistant Coaches John Shupe and Evan Smith.  Team players are...

Joshua George
Tyler Grenier
Jack Harris
Brenton Hill
Wyatt Langs
Seth Lind
Bryce Mullins
Jordan Phillips
Rob Schwartz
Colton Seeman
