What is Xeriscape?  Xeriscaping actually means a low water use landscape. It comes from the Greek word Zeros which means dry. There are many principals of xeriscaping including using desert adaptive plants and low water use plants throughout the landscape. The benefits of Xeriscaping include saving water, saving energy resources, saving on utility bills and attracting beneficial wildlife such as butterflies and humming birds.

There are several xeriscape gardens throughout Arizona where you can learn about the plants being used. If you'd like to start your own xeriscape garden visit some of the gardens for literature and free workshops.
