My favorite thing about fall fashionsBoot season!  So, bring on the boots because this year's styles are fresh and fun.  Plus you can walk your boot-loving feet into some great discount stores to find boot buys that will save you money.  So, before you shop, stop and read this article about which boots are in this season and where to find them for less.

What's Hot & What's Not in Fall Boots
After a lot of boot shopping and fashion magazine reading, I decided to visit my favorite local buyer for some insider tips.  Heather owns The Purple Skirt boutique which is located at 48th Street and Chandler Blvd. in Ahwatukee. She shared some boot scoop with me and she also has some steals on sale. I discovered that some boot trends remain and some have walked out the door. I was disappointed to hear that wedge boots are bust, but happy to see some comfortable low heels on the shoe shelves. Red and white boots are out with brown, grey and black boots in. The color eggplant is big this year adding a nice bright shade to the boot styles.  Fashionable fall boots include the bootie, ankle boots, over-the-knee, peep toe, low-heel and returning again for another season, the super comfortable Ugg brand.

Peep Toe Trend
Lucky for us desert girls, the peep toe boot is one that we can wear longer than our gal pals across the nation. Macy's sells a ton of peep toe boots, but at high prices. One pair that looks identical to the boots that Ashley Tisdale wears (shown in my segment) sells for $175.00. Since that is too much for my boot budget, I was pleased to learn that The Purple Skirt has all of their boots priced at a reasonable $69 a pair. And this boutique carries a lot of knock-offs to the star styles. Heather showed me a pair of eggplant peep toe boots that perfectly demonstrate the current trends; the peep toe style; the purple shade of the season and the popular bootie.  Booties are big this season and they resemble the size and height of a shoe, but are the design of a boot.

Another style of peep toe boot also shows the sides of the feet. This sexy shoe is sort of a peep toe high heel and boot combined. I found a black pair of RocaWear Inna boots at www.zappos.com for $75. Zappos.com is great to know about because they not only carry multiple styles of boots, but also a big variety of hard to find sizes and shipping is free!  Zappos also sells wide-calf boots and vegan styles, so they have something for everyone on this site.  And they boast a 365-day return policy.

Over The Knee Boot is Back
Like Julia Roberts sported in the 1990 movie "Pretty Woman", over the knee boots have made their return. Since these boots are so tall, more material is required to make them, so prices tend to be higher. I found a good deal on a pair at The Purple Skirt for $69.  Plus these suede grey boots look identical to the more expensive knock-off Christian Louboutin brand that sell for over $300. I did find several over the knee styles at Target for under $50, but the selection was pretty limited. As far as how to wear these thigh-hugging hot styles, I've seen them worn under dresses and over jeans, so they are versatile. However, I would shy away from wearing them under a mini-skirt or you risk looking like Julia's Robert's character in Pretty Woman!

Booties & Ankle Boots
Shorter version boots that are very hot this fall include the bootie and the ankle boot. The bootie fits more like a shoe with the ankle boot completely covering the ankle. Payless ShoeSource has a good selection of  booties that sell for under $40. And the eggplant trend is also on the company website with purple boots for sale along with the black, browns and grey shades that are all the rage this fall. In both styles, lace-ups, zip-ups, solids and peep toe are all fabulous fall trends. Of all of the boot styles, this seems to be the most popular among the celebrities this season. Check out the segment to see a photo of  Lindsay Lohan, Sandra Bullock, Hillary Duff and Gwyneth Paltrow all sporting ankle boots with different types of outfits.  Under a dress or with jeans or leggings, they all look stylish.

Uggs & Low Heels Are Back
My feet were happy to hear that the more comfortable low heeled boots and the ultra comfy Uggs return this season. Airwalk Regina brown boots sell for $34.99 at Payless ShoeSource. They look identical to the classic Uggs that sell for $144. Flat boots and low-heeled styles are also acceptable as a fashion forward boot this season. One flat boot that returns are the popular cowgirl boots. Target sells several western styles for around $40.

No matter which boot you choose, I've noticed that most styles are being worn under all types of outfits. So if you can only afford one pair, feel free to mix your boots with a lot of your wardrobe. Enjoy the boots and the season!
