Reporter Casey James joined Arizona’s family in August 2013.
A Texas native, Casey started his broadcast journalism career at KLAS in Las Vegas before making his way back to the Lone Star State where he reported for KTXS in Abilene before heading to KXAN in Austin.
It was during his time in the military – Casey served in the Office of Naval Intelligence – that's when he discovered his passion for telling people’s stories. It was that excitement that led him to journalism.
A talented raconteur, Casey’s stories during the 2011 historic Texas wildfire season made a statewide tragedy intensely personal to everyone watching. With millions of acres burned and thousands of homes destroyed, he shared the experiences of those living through the wildfires.
Winner of a Texas AP award, Casey is clearly good at his job and he’s not afraid to dig in and get involved, doing whatever is necessary to tell the story – whatever that story may be -- and tell it well.
Casey has a unique knack for closing the distance between the subjects of his stories and those watching them. It’s his goal as a journalist and something he hopes to continue in Phoenix.
Casey looks at life as an adventure and is ready to catch anything it throws at him, viewing its twists and turns as opportunities to learn something new.
Casey loves to travel the world and enjoys spending time engaging in “gym therapy.”
If you have a story to share with Casey, he’d love to hear it.
