Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day
Cave Creek Museum hosts "Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day" on Sat., Sept. 29, offering guests a chance to see its new exhibits before it officially re-opens for the season on Wed., Oct. 3. The free celebration takes place from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. followed by a special Pre-season member's reception from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. During the Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day, guests can view Cave Creek Museum's new and permanent indoor and outdoor exhibits, including an historic Stamp Mill dating back to 1880. The afternoon will be filled with basketry, pottery, beadwork, shell etching and traditional food cooking demonstrations. In addition, an official ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place with Museum staff and members of the Salt River Indian Community.

Making your own organic cough syrup to boost immunity and increase health:
Elderberry Syrup
1 cup fresh or ½ cup dried elderberries
3 cups water
1 cup honey

Place the berries in a saucepan and cover with water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer over low heat for 30 to 45 minutes.

Smash the berries. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer and add 1 cup of honey, or adjust to taste.

Bottle the syrup and store in the refrigerator, where it will keep for 2 to 3 months.

Peanut butter recall
Trader Joes is recalling its Creamy Salted Valencia Peanut Butter. Its the source of Salmonella illnesses in 18 states. The grocery chain is offering a refund to anyone who has purchased the brand of peanut butter.
