MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexican authorities say a 4-year-old girl who vanished from her home near Mexico City on April 1 has been found alive and well in El Salvador.
Mexico's Foreign Relations Department says Valeria Hernandez de Jesus was discovered wandering on a street in Sonsonate, El Salvador. Sonsonate is about 750 miles (1,200 kilometers) from the Mexico City suburb of Texcoco, where the girl's parents reported her missing.
A statement issued Saturday by the Foreign Relations Department does not say how the girl came to be in Sonsonate, where she was found with the help of Salvadoran police.
It says she is in "perfect health" and Mexico hopes to return the girl to her family as soon as possible.
