BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) — Colombia's president has rejected a proposal by the country's main leftist rebel movement to observe a cease-fire during peace talks that begin next month.

President Juan Manuel Santos says the Colombian military and police have been instructed to intensify offensive actions.

Santos says the government will not let up until, in his words, "we get the final agreement, and I want to make that very clear."
