PHOENIX -- Another day of record heat looks likely for the Valley Tuesday. This afternoon's highs are set to soar to near 113 degrees under partly sunny skies. Unless we see a storm that cools us down before midnight, a record was already set this morning with a record warm low of 92 degrees. That marks eight days in a row with overnight lows of 90 degrees or higher, and we've also had nine days in a row of afternoon highs of 110 degrees or higher. An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect for the Valley until 8 p.m. Wednesday.

A high pressure ridge is forecast to start shifting west on Wednesday, which will help import more monsoon moisture into the state. Storm chances increase Wednesday through the weekend as temperatures gradually lower to near normal. Highs by Friday will only top out near 105 degrees.
