PHOENIX -- After a warm last weekend of September, it looks like October will get off to a toasty start.
Under clear skies, Valley residents woke to a nice Monday morning with overnight lows in the mid-60s to mid-70s. But the mercury will rise fast today, reaching levels about 10 degrees above average for this time of year. The Valley should top out near 104 degrees today and 103 Tuesday.
Double-digit highs aren't expected until Friday as our ridge of high pressure in the Southwest finally begins to flatten out and the heat eases up.
Meanwhile, under clear skies, overnight lows are expected to stay mild in the mid-60s to mid-70s.
