SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- A Scottsdale man will be watching the Super Bowl very closely this year, because it could just win him a million bucks!
But Ryan Anderson won't be focusing on football as much as he will be watching the commercials, to see if his commercial made the cut.
Anderson created one of those "Doritos competition ads," and now, it's one of the top five in the running for the big prize.
The ad is called "Time Machine", and it's inspired by his 6-year-old son, Gavin, after they watched the movie "Back to the Future."
It was picked as one of five finalists from thousands of ad submissions from 30 countries.
"It's still not dawning on me that this is huge," Anderson told 3TV's Javier Soto. "It's definitely very, very exciting. I think I'm just waiting for the future -- no pun intended -- to finally accept everything."
Young Gavin, of course, is in the video, as is the family's dog, Hogan. The ad was shot in the family's front yard.
"You can vote every day from multiple devices until Jan. 29," Anderson explained.
Anderson and the other finalists -- along with the rest of the world -- will find out which commercial got the most votes when the winning ad runs during the Super Bowl on Feb. 2.
"We're all going to be holding hand like beauty pageant queens, just waiting for the final word," Anderson said with a laugh.
The grand prize is $1 million. Each of the runners-up gets $50K.
In addition, the top two ad-makers get to visit the set of Marvel's "Avengers: Age of Ultron" next year.
