GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Arizona patients can now start applying for a medical marijuana card.
According to Will Humble, the director of the Arizona Department of Health Services, his department can process as many as 500 applications per day.
The application process is conducted entirely online.
Those hoping to run medical-marijuana dispensaries can turn in their applications starting in June.
Patients who are approved and receive cards should be able to fill their first prescriptions for medical marijuana by late summer or early fall.
Arizona is the 15th state to legalize marijuana for the treatment of cancer and various other diseases.
