PHOENIX -- The self-proclaimed toughest sheriff in America has vehemently denied allegations that his deputies racially profile Latinos. Now Joe Arpaio will have to convince the federal judge who is presiding over a lawsuit that heads to trial on Thursday.

3TV's Javier Soto spoke with Arizona State University law professor Charles Calleros about the trial, what will happen and what it could mean.

According to ASU's website, Calleros’ research interests include, among other things, the intersection of free speech with race and gender discrimination. Prior to joining the faculty in 1981, Calleros clerked for Circuit Judge Procter Hug Jr., of the U.S. Court of Appeals.
