PHOENIX -- Police say three people were shot at a home near Fifth Street and Southern Avenue in Phoenix Tuesday night.

It happened at around 9 p.m. Tuesday.

All of the shooting victims were males. One of the victims was shot in the chest. Another one was shot in the leg and the third victim was shot in the shoulder.

One of the people shot, a black man in his 40s, is a possible suspect. At last check he was in serious condition.

The other two people who were wounded are victims, police said. One is 15 years old, the other is 18. Their injuries reportedly were not life-threatening.

"It appears as though two subjects attempted a home invasion at which time they were met by resistance from the victims," said Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump in a news release.

Several blocks were cordoned off as police continue to investigate this incident.

"It is believed there may be a drug nexus surrounding this home invasion and detectives have obtained a search warrant for the property," Crump said.

According to Crump, a second suspect was still on the loose Wednesday morning. That suspect is described as a thin black male between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall. He was wearing a red and black sweatshirt, jeans and a ball cap.
