PHOENIX -- A fall storm brought a snowy start to Friday in the high country.  Light, slushy snow showers didn't stick when they began falling early Friday in downtown Flagstaff, but a fresh blanket of snow could be seen on surrounding peaks.

It was the first snow of the season for our high country.

A low-pressure system brought scattered showers and thunderstorms to the state, including the Valley, throughout the day and night Thursday.

Officially, Sky Harbor received only a trace of rain, but parts of Scottsdale saw up to 0.5 inch.

Thunderstorms brought hail, snow and even a tornado warning to the high country, although no twister was actually spotted.

As the storm moves out of Arizona today, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are possible in the high country throughout today, but the deserts should stay dry and cool.

Look for partly sunny skies in the Valley this afternoon with a high of just 78 degrees. Overnight lows will dip to the 50s in the Valley, but down to the 20s and 30s in the high country under clear skies.

The weekend looks dry with plenty of sunshine. Valley highs will peak in the low 80s Saturday and low 90s Sunday.
