(AP) -- Heavy snow has struck parts of Arizona causing hazardous driving conditions and school cancellations.
Meanwhile, the National Weather Service placed parts of northern New Mexico under a winter storm warning until midnight Monday as heavy snow and wind from Arizona is expected to blanket the area.
Arizona Department of Transportation crews were fully deployed Sunday after heavy snow in Arizona fell from Flagstaff to the White Mountains. The winter storm forced the closure of Interstate 40 in both directions from U.S. 93 to Winslow. Northbound Interstate 17 was also closed at the junction of State Route 179.
Much of New Mexico remained under a high wind advisory with damaging winds expected to reach up to 55 mph.
