CHANDLER, Ariz. – One of the country’s top festivals rolled into Chandler this weekend.
What an experience! More than 80,000 people come out to Tumbleweed Park in Chandler every year for the Ostrich Festival.
For the past 23 years, this festival is a Valley favorite because it keeps expanding and getting better. Besides the fantastic food favorites like deep fried peaches and homemade lemonade, you can find unusual fare such ostrich burgers - a standard at the festival.
The entertainment over the three-day affair includes medieval jousting, sea lion shows, petting zoo, camel rides and of course, ostrich races.
The list of entertainment is almost too long to name. The big draw for families this year was Nathan Kress who plays Freddie on iCarly. Hundreds lined up for their chance to meet the star and get his autograph. The ground of the park turns into a mini-amusement park with dozens of rides to enjoy.
Another great thing about the festival is, it’s not just for kids. It features a variety of live music every night such as Sunday’s headliner, The Spinners.
I had a great time playing with sea lions and watching Dan, the rhinestone cowboy, turn his horse upside down.
Sounds strange, I know, but my favorite part was meeting our viewers, watching them take pictures with the Good Morning Arizona team.
If you missed it this year, don’t make the same mistake next year.
