Robbery suspects talked out of standoff situation

PHOENIX -- Two men are accused of barricading themselves inside a house in the wake of an armed robbery Tuesday.

It all started when the pair forced two women inside their home near Southern and Third avenues Tuesday morning, according to Sgt. Trent Crump of the Phoenix Police Department. . 

Police said the men took jewelry and other things and then fled.

Officers were able to get the license plate number of the getaway car. They tracked it to an address in the neighborhood of 20th Street and Alta Vista Road. The two men were hiding inside a house.

Police found two guns when they were walking up to the home. 

After a two-hour standoff, the men surrendered to officers without further incident.

One of them was handcuffed and loaded into an ambulance for unknown reasons. 

He eventually will be locked up along with his associate, whom police took to jail.

Detectives will talk to the suspects to try and determine why they targeted the women. 

Charges are pending.
