PHOENIX -- A 33-year-old man was found dead inside a family's apartment and Phoenix police are asking the public for any information that may aid in their investigation.
Shortly after 2 a.m. on Friday, a couple and their children came home to their apartment in the area of 27th Avenue and Claremont Street and discovered the victim lying on the floor, according to Sgt. Tommy Thompson.
The family left the apartment and called the police.
Thompson said the victim is an acquaintance of the family who periodically stays at their home.
Responding officers found that the victim had suffered trauma and his death is being investigated as a homicide.
"It's true that when they're deceased they can't tell us what occurred, but often times the evidence tells us what transpired," Thompson said. "We're in the process of gathering what evidence we can that will lead us ultimately to the person who committed this homicide, so we can bring them to justice."
The victim's name has not been released.
Detectives have very little to go on at this time. Anyone with any information concerning this incident should call the Phoenix Police Department at 602-262-6151 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS, 480-TESTIGO for Spanish.
