PHOENIX -- A Phoenix man is facing several felony charges after allegedly forcing a teenage girl from California into child prostitution.

Phoenix Police arrested Michael Canty early Wednesday morning. Officers say he forced a 17-year-old girl from San Diego into performing sex acts on a man for money.

Investigators tell 3TV that she was brought to Phoenix by a friend under the guise that they were going to a party. Once they arrived at an apartment complex off McDowell Road, the friend disappeared.

Police say Canty kept her there against her will, then made her walk the streets until she was contacted by a man who paid her for sex.

The girl managed to sneak someone else's cell phone and sent her father in San Diego a text message about what happened.  The father called Phoenix Police, who dispatched patrol officers to the apartment complex where they found the girl walking around.

Authorities are going to be turning the girl back over to her father.

Canty is facing charges of child prostitution, attempted child prostitution, and kidnapping.
