TEMPE, Ariz. --  As details continue to emerge about the gunman who opened fire at an early morning showing of "The Dark Knight Rises" in Aurora, Colo., Valley resident are still reacting to the massacre and wondering what happens next..

Former Phoenix police sergeant Andy Hill, who was on the force or 26 years, explained what investigators in Aurora are doing as the investigation unfolds.

"The big deal right now, I think, is to get hold of all of his social media ... seeing if he was communicating with anybody else that have been inf the same mindset, or a particular group," Hill told 3TV's Tess Rafols.

Hill said officers are trained to deal with inherently chaotic situations like what happened in Colorado. He said officers will not only be working their way backwards to determine the motive behind the massacre, but will also be looking forward to try and prevent potential copycat incidents.
