PHOENIX – Governor Jan Brewer will be talking energy this weekend when she attends the Western Governor’s Association meeting.
Intertwined with the discussion of energy is one of the biggest hot button issues in the country: global warming.
While many in the country believe that people have had a hand in the world’s rising temperature, Governor Brewer said she’s not among them.
“Everybody has an opinion on it and I probably don’t believe that it’s man made,” said Brewer. “I believe, you know, that weather elements are controlled by other things.”
Nancy Selover, a climatologist with Arizona State University, shares a different opinion, and said people have in fact played a part in global warming.
“We have obviously changed things, we’ve heated things up a lot by our activities,” said Selover.
Selover said the unfortunate thing about the global warming discussion is that it’s become incredibly politicized.
“More and more scientists have become trying to influence policy. I try to stay out of that,” said Selover.
