PHOENIX (AP) — Republican Congressman Ben Quayle conceded defeat on election night, telling supporters that he wasn't through with public life.
Quayle said he would continue to work to help improve the country after losing to fellow one-term Republican Rep. David Schweikert in a vicious primary fight.
If Schweikert loses to a Democrat in the general election, Republican strategist Doug Cole says Quayle should immediately declare his intent to run in 2014.
Schweikert says despite the bruising primary, he thinks Quayle's future is bright.
