GLENDALE, Ariz. -- For the first time, the Cardinals Training Camp is being held in their own University of Phoenix Stadium, instead of Flagstaff.
Other NFL teams are also holding training in their own stadiums; the Cardinals haven't trained at home since their move to Arizona in 1988. Most Cardinals players believe the change is good.
"It's our home stadium," said Dan Williams, defensive tackle. "I'm glad to be here in Glendale."
"I think it's more than enough with the limited number of players," said head coach Bruce Arians. "I think it's a great setup."
To kick off, we had our own tailgating party before the players start their first practice of the season this afternoon at 2:00.
Early risers who came by enjoyed music, food from Chick-Fil-A, frozen slushies from Kona Ice and other booths. Even when it was raining, fans were playing football in the parking lot and enjoying the rare weather.
The Cardinals are preparing for their first game again the Green Bay Packers on Aug. 9.
