PHOENIX -- Who says camping has to mean hot dogs and baked beans? How about Dijon Jalapeno Chicken, or Parmesan Crusted Broccoli?
Recipes like that are the centerpiece of the website called "Camping for Foodies". Creator Kim Hanna gave us a taste of the concept on Friday's Good Morning Arizona.
"I love food, and I hated eating hot dogs and beans while camping," Hanna explained to Scott Pasmore. "So I had to elevate it!"
Hanna believes that just about everything tastes better outside. And from the backyard to the campsite, she's full of ideas about how foodies can tempt their taste-buds, even in the great outdoors.
She even offers ideas for kids while camping. Some of those recipes include chocolate covered peanut butter balls, spiced mixed nuts and a three-bean salad.
Hanna has tips for foodies who are camping, like bring an outdoor grill, and remember that a plastic baggie can be an outdoor cook's best friend.
She's also a big advocate for getting away from it all. "The rule of thumb is, keep driving until you're out of range, and then it's time to go camping," she says.
