PHOENIX – Renowned psychic medium James Van Praagh is in town for a special event – An Evening of Spirit – at Celebrity Theatre.
He stopped by 3TV Friday morning to chat with Kaley O’Kelley about his unique life and career, as well as his special spiritual gifts.
“I’ve been everywhere,” he said, talking about his three decades as a practicing psychic medium. “I’m pretty well-known around the world.”
Despite that, though, Van Praagh has a special place in his heart for the Valley and its residents.
“This area – Phoenix, Scottsdale, the Valley – is my No. 1 audience base, my biggest fans. I always come here because of that.”
Considered a pioneer in the field and generally recognized as one of the most accurate spiritual mediums working today, Van Praagh also is a New York Times best-selling author with numerous books to his credit.
Regard of whether he's sharing his experiences in writing or on stage, Van Praagh's goal is simple. He wants to connect the living and the dead so everybody can be at peace.
“Tonight is about spirit communication,” he said. “I’m going to be delivering messages from spirits.
“I also teach a lot,” he continued. “I teach you what happens when you pass over, what happens when we actually die.”
We might not always aware of it, but spirits come through to us any way they can, Van Praagh explained.
“They want us to know that they’re OK, that they’re still very much alive,” he said.
It can be frightening, but it doesn't have to be. People only fear what they don't know or understand.
“The more you know, the more you’re aware – you don’t have to be fearful."
Van Praagh said people also need to learn to listen to -- and trust -- their intuition.
“Intuition is the language of the soul,” he said. “Every single person has that gut reaction, that gut feeling. The more you use it, the more you’ll be right.”
An Evening of Spirit starts at 8 p.m. Club doors open at 6 p.m. Theatre doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $50-$70. First-row tickets with a meet-and-greet are $145.
Celebrity Theatre is located at 440 N. 32nd Street, just four blocks south of the Loop 202 freeway in Phoenix.
