Local entrepreneurs make splash pitching MistoBox on 'Shark Tank'

PHOENIX -- Valley business partners Samantha Meis and Connor Riley will make a splash on the network show "Shark Tank," Friday night when they pitch their business, MistoBox.

It's a monthly subscription service and shop for coffee lovers, designed to "deliver the world's best coffee to your doorstep."

"We believe the world would be a better place if everyone drank truly amazing coffee," reads the MistoBox website. "Everyone should have access to the country’s best coffee roasters who source the world’s most amazing beans. We’re delivering you all the access with out all the hassle."

Meis and Riley taste more than 50 coffees every month and select four to send out, promising that their MistoBoxes will never contain the same blend twice.

The duo stopped by "Good Morning! Arizona" to chat with 3TV's Javier Soto and Kaley O'Kelley about their "Shark Tank" experience.

They taped the show (episode 421) several months ago, but, of course, had to remain mum about the outcome.

"It was an amazing experience," Riley said. "It was basically every emotion all wrapped up into one."

"Is there a name for this emotion?" Meis asked. "No. There's just no name for how we felt. It was crazy."

The premise of the show is that entrepreneurs pitch a group of millionaires and billionaires to secure funding for their companies. The goal is to get them to invest.

Meis and Riley, who were part of the entrepreneurial program at University of Arizona, said it was more than a little nerve-wracking.

"I don't think I'll ever be afraid to pitch my company ever again," Meis said.

There's a viewing party at 7 p.m. at The Vig Uptown, 6015 N. 16th Street, Phoenix.

"Shark Tank" airs on ABC at 8 p.m.
