PHOENIX -- We regularly hear about the dangers of drunk driving, but driving under the influence of drugs -- or perhaps when a driver has not taken his of her prescription medication -- is just as dangerous.

Earlier this week, a driver who did not take his diabetes medication went into what's been described as a low blood sugar "daze" and led police on a chase.

Then there are those who are adversely affected by either prescription drugs or even seemingly over-the-counter medications.

According to numbers from the Governor's Office of Highway Safety released in February, drug DUI arrests have been on the rise over the past nine years, jumping more than 13 times from 221 arrests in 2003 to 2,961 arrests in 2011.

Shelly Mowrey from Drug Free Arizona sat down with Kaley O'Kelley to discuss the issue. Click the video above to watch the segment.
