PHOENIX -- At 26 years old, Cameron Taylor is a wanted man by law enforcement. Even more so now that the U.S. Marshals have added him to their top 15 most wanted fugitive list after being on the run since 2009.
Police say Taylor shot and killed 54-year-old Gilbert Leon, an innocent bystander at the time, but more importantly, Clemencia Leon's son.
“He was heading home, heading home when this happened,” said Clemencia.
Four years ago, Gilbert Leon got caught in between the crossfire of two rival gangs near 16th street and Broadway.
He was in his car when he was shot after three gang members opened fire at another car full of people.
“Terrible, we all miss him you know, it's been four years, four years and three months, but it seems like it just happened yesterday, our pain is so deep that we still can't cope with it we miss him a lot, we miss him very much,” said Clemencia.
Two out of the three gang members have already been caught and convicted. Taylor is the third.
“It's hard knowing he's out there and we're still here hoping he will come out or someone will give him up, because it's real hard knowing he's out there enjoying life,” said Clemencia.
To help catch Taylor, the U.S. Marshals Office is offering up to a $25,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
