TEMPE, Ariz. -- A family is frantically searching for the person who took their dog right from their front porch.

The 10-year-old black chihuahua named Petrie was taken while waiting outside of an apartment at the Parkside complex on Cutler Drive (just east of Priest Drive) at Broadway Road in Tempe.

David Sedillo, Petrie's owner, said he let the dog. out Monday afternoon. When Petrie didn't come back, Sedillo turned to footage from his surveillance camera, which is mounted outside his door.

The video showed a woman, possibly in her late teens or early 20s, walking up and taking the dog. It appeared she wasn't in a hurry, which has Sedillo believing she might have taken him because she was worried he was a stray.

Sedillo and his family went door to door Tuesday morning. asking people if they've seen their dog or the woman in the surveillance video.

Sedillo also talked with Tempe police.

The family hopes someone will see this article or video and return the dog to the same apartment.
