PHOENIX -- Collapsed and upside down, two people are stuck and needing help after their pickup truck collides with a police SUV.
“It took about 30 to 45 minutes for fire to actually extricate the male and female passengers of this pickup truck out of this vehicle,” said Officer James Holmes with the Phoenix Police Department.
The collision happened just after eight o’clock Saturday morning at the intersection of 75th Avenue and Palm. Driving the police SUV was a 44-year-old officer.
“Our officer has some scrapes and bruises, he was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries,” said Officer Holmes.
Officer Holmes said the two vehicles were approaching the intersection at around the same time, neither one was speeding, one just didn't to stop.
“The driver of the pickup truck failed to stop for the red light and went out on 75th Avenue and the two vehicles collided,” said Officer Holmes.
As nasty as it was, all three people who went to the hospital, are expected to be fine.
Officers on the scene detected that the driver of the pickup truck may have been impaired.
No charges have been reported.
