DALLAS (AP) — The jury at former Dallas Cowboys player Josh Brent's intoxication manslaughter trial has been dismissed for the night after a day of testimony in the sentencing phase.
The Dallas jury will resume deliberating Brent's sentence on Friday for a drunken car crash in December 2012 that killed his friend and teammate, Jerry Brown, who was a passenger in Brent's car.
Brent faces up to 20 years in prison or as little as probation.
Prosecutors say the defensive tackle's blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit after the crash.
Brown was a linebacker on the Cowboys practice squad and had played with Brent at the University of Illinois.
