HAMPTON, N.H. (AP) — The husband of one of two women killed in New Hampshire when a car slammed into a group of bicyclists during an annual ride along the New England coastline says police are conducting a criminal investigation into the accident.
Investigators say a car driven by a 20-year-old woman crossed the center line and struck a group of riders crossing a bridge in Hampton on Saturday morning.
The accident took place during the 40th annual Granite State Wheelmen Tri-State Seacoast Century ride.
Tom Rogers, of South Hamilton, Mass., lost his wife, Pamela Wells, in the crash. He says police told him they confiscated the driver's phone, took her car and administered blood tests.
He says it was his wife's first century ride, and she'd been working toward it all summer.
