CAMPAIGN (SAT/SUN) - President Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney continue their preparations for their first debate on October 3, 2012. President Obama will also attend campaign events in Florida and Las Vegas, Nevada.

UNITED NATIONS (SAT/SUN) - The 67th United Nations General Assembly continues in New York City through the weekend.

CA, CARMAGEDDON II (SAT/SUN) - The sequel to last year's 'Carmageddon' hits Los Angeles commuters when authorities close 10 miles of one of the world's busiest freeways to rebuild a bridge.

DC, RED MASS (SUN) - The annual Red Mass is taking place, to give Washington Catholics the chance to pray for the U.S. Supreme Court term.

CHINA NATIONAL DAY (SAT) - Celebrations will occur nationwide to mark the 63rd anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

MOON FESTIVAL CELEBRATIONS (SAT) - Numerous parts of Asia mark the Moon Festival, one of the most important traditional events in the Chinese calendar.

PORTUGAL PROTEST (SAT) - Portugal's biggest union the CGTP has called for a protest against the government's proposed austerity measures in Lisbon.

SENEGAL ANNUAL SHEEP BEAUTY CONTEST (SAT) - Move over 'Miss World' and 'Mr. Universe.' In Senegal sheep take center stage when it comes to beauty competitions. One of the country's most popular TV series is an annual national sheep beauty contest that draws millions of viewers.

COMMUNIST ART REVEALS REGIME RESISTANCE IN ROMANIA (SAT) - Contrary to popular belief, not all art created during Romania's Communist era was used to glorify the regime. Many painters and artists defied pressure to make them toe the party line - as seen in a new exhibition in Bucharest.

VIENNA OKTOBERFEST HOPES TO COMPETE WITH MUNICH (SAT) - It may not be October yet, but the beer is already flowing at the second annual Oktoberfest in Vienna. Modeled on the classic Munich festival, the Austrian experience is a little more sober than its German rival.

SYDNEY ART INSTALLATION BRINGS TREES TO LIFE (SAT) - From anti-war to environmental movements, Sydney's Hyde Park has become an important demonstration site. Now the stories of those who've rallied in the city are being heard through a unique art installation.

VIETNAM RUNNERS ASCEND COUNTRY'S TALLEST BUILDING (SUN) - International runners joins Vietnamese competitors in a race to ascend 1,914 steps of Hanoi's tallest building, made up of 72 stories.

FRENCH EU PROTEST (SUN) - Protests are planned against the new EU budget pact, called by various far-left parties and organizations.

NIGERIA MOVES TO REDUCE TRAFFIC CHAOS IN THE CITY (SUN) - Africa's most populous city, Lagos, often grinds to a halt because of the huge volume of traffic clogging up its major roads. But moves to free up the traffic are being criticized for stopping roadside vendors from making a living.

PARADISE GARDENS IN SHIRAZ (SUN) - The Iranians' love of constructing gardens has its roots in the ancient Zoroastrianism tradition, which emphasizes the sacredness of water and art. The country's most famous example is the Eram Botanical Garden in Shiraz.

PILGRIMS FLOCK TO MONASTERY IN SEARCH OF MIRACLES (SUN) - Carved into a vertical mountain edge nearly three thousand feet about the sea the Monastery of Ostrog in Montenegro is one of the most popular attractions in the Balkans. Each year tourists and pilgrims alike flock to the monastery in the thousands, some to soak in the magnificent architecture and others to seek spiritual healing.

WHOOPING COUGH IN THE UK - Medics in the U.K. are calling for pregnant women to be vaccinated against whooping cough. They're aiming to bring under control the biggest outbreak of the disease in two decades. Nine babies under three months old have died so far this year.
