ANN ROMNEY ON LENO - Ann Romney, wife of Republican candidate Mitt Romney, made her first late night appearance on 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.' She says she hopes Americans will put prejudices aside to elect the first Mormon president.

MN, GAY MARRIAGE ADS FEATURE NO GAY PEOPLE - A set of ads in support of gay marriage has been released, featuring straight people in support of the cause. Critics have pointed out that no gay people are featured in the ads, but the producers say it is not the gay voters who need convincing.
CA, GOVERNOR BROWN SIGNS DRIVERLESS CAR BILL - California Governor Jerry Brown has signed legislation that will pave the way for driverless cars in the state.
NC, DAYS AFTER ESCAPE, NC KILLER STILL ON THE RUN - There has been no sign of a convicted killer two days after he walked away from his tractor outside a prison farm in rural North Carolina. Authorities have been using a helicopter and bloodhounds to search for James J. Ladd. (Sept. 25)

RARE RHINO SHOT AFTER FLOODS FORCE IT FROM PARK - Veterinarians struggled to save the life of a rare rhinoceros that was shot and had its horn cut off by poachers after it wandered out of a flooded national park in northeastern India.
SYRIA - Twin blasts targeting Syria's army command headquarters rocked Damascus, setting off hours of sporadic gun battles and a raging fire inside the heavily guarded compound.
STRIKES IN GREECE - Greek workers walked off the job and marched through central Athens in the first general strike since the country's coalition government was formed in June.
SOUTH KOREA HOLDS NAVAL DRILL - South Korea's navy staged a readiness drill in its Yellow Sea territory, amid heightened tensions in the region. It follows an incident on Friday when the South Korean navy fired warning shots towards North Korean fishing boats after they allegedly strayed across the Yellow Sea territorial border, the Northern Limit Line (NLL).

SKI RESORT RISES OUT OF VOLCANIC ASHES - The Argentine Patagonian ski region of Bariloche is rising out of the ashes of a 2011 season destroyed by the awakening of the nearby Puyehue volcano. One year on, following a massive cleanup operation, the slopes of one of the southern hemisphere's top winter sports destinations are back on the radar.
MINI-ME DOLLS LOOK LIKE OWNERS - Launched in September 2011, My London Girl sells dolls that are an almost-identical image of their young owners. RUSSIAN ART EXHIBIT PAYS TRIBUTE TO LE CORBUSIER - For the first time in Russia, a museum is exploring the creativity, works and personality of the father of modern architecture, 20th century French urbanist Le Corbusier. The exhibition is part of several events celebrating the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts' 100th anniversary.
