PHOENIX -- After an unseasonably cool February in Arizona, Mother Nature looks like she’s making up for it on this first weekend of March.

A normal high temperature this time of year in Phoenix is 74. Saturday’s highs reached the mid 80s, and it looks like the warm weather will continue into Sunday.

High pressure dominating the region will continue to influence our weather for the weekend, allowing temperatures to remain in the 80s.

There will, however, be a change in scenery Sunday as a storm system brushes just to the north of our region, allowing subtropical moisture to move in from the Pacific.

This moisture will give the state cloudy skies Sunday, with a few light rain and snow showers in the higher terrain during the afternoon and evening hours.

Monday, skies should clear, but we’ll cool back down into the upper 70s for daytime highs in the Valley. We’ll warm again into the low 80s for Tuesday and Wednesday as high pressure tries to strengthen once more.

Another storm system will approach the area Thursday, dropping temperatures back below normal for this time of year.

For now, Thursday looks dry in the Valley, with rain and snow chances returning to the forecast for the mountains. The Valley will see small chances for rain to wrap up the work week on Friday. Winds could also be rather breezy late week.
