PHOENIX -- A 2-year-old girl has died after she was found at the bottom of a relative's pool Sunday evening, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

It happened in the neighborhood off 63rd Avenue and West Campbell Road.

"When we arrived on scene they found a 2-year-old female with CPR in progress from the family members," said Capt. Ruben Saavedra with the Phoenix Fire Department.

When the first responders arrived they took over the CPR compressions, according to Saavedra.

The 2-year-old was taken to a nearby pediatric center in extremely critical condition.

"We're getting reports from the family members that the child was missing for approximately five to 15 minutes," Saavedra said.

There was no fencing around the immediate pool area.

"There is an arcadia door that leads out to the pool and there is no barrier between the arcadia door and the pool," Saavedra said.
