SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Sometimes when you’re just a little dog, you need a little help.

When a pet chihuahua recently found himself locked outside without any food or water, a pair of Scottsdale police officers came to the rescue.

Although the dog was waiting just outside his yard, he wasn’t big enough to make it over the 8-foot fence.

The dog’s owner also wasn’t able to make it home to let the dog in.

Police made sure there was plenty of shade, food, and water in the backyard and then made an elevator with a bucket and a rope and lowered the dog back into the yard.
