TEMPE, Ariz. -- Tempe police have arrested a man after his girlfriend's naked body was found in a residential neighborhood more than a week ago.

Tempe police detectives arrested Douglas Ray George, 27, in the death of Annovedwin Begay-Barakzai, 23. He faces a charge of second-degree murder and is being held on $700,000 bond.

Begay-Barakzai's body was found in the area of McClintock Drive and Baseline Road on June 15.

Investigators said that after killing the victim at another location, George drove her to the 1900 block of East Minton Drive and placed her body in a dark area of the neighborhood.

A passerby found the body and called police.

Police released a composite sketch of the victim and received information from the public that helped identify her.

The medical examiner determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma.

Tempe police spokesman Sgt. Michael Pooley said George and Begay-Barakzai lived together near Baseline and Rural roads. George had been arrested for domestic violence assault on the victim earlier this month.
