GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Firefighters quickly knocked down a fire at a Glendale home Wednesday morning, but not before confronting massive flames shooting through the roof.

Crews were called to the neighborhood of 64th Avenue and Bethany Home Road at about 9 a.m.

Smoke pouring off the house was visible for miles.

Aerial video from the Fort McDowell Casino News Chopper showed three firefighters on the roof. As soon as they cut a hole to vent the heat and pent-up smoke, a column of flames shot into the air.

As crews inside continued to pour water on the fire, the flames died down, giving way to a massive plume of smoke that went from black to gray to white.

Once the vent hole was cut, firefighters were able to get things under control relatively quickly.

It's not known what sparked the fire, but fire crews say nobody was home when it started.

At this point, no injuries have been reported.
