GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- A couple is in custody after their three children were found living among rotting trash in a filthy Glendale home.

Police say officers uncovered the conditions while investigating a neighbor's report of a possible family fight about 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

When 23-year-old Carolyn Walker walked out of the house to speak with police, an officer noticed smeared walls and flies circulating around trash bags.

Police reported smelling fecal matter, urine and rotting food coming from the home.

Officers found the floors smeared with mud, tomato sauce, human and dog feces and numerous soiled diapers.

Police say Walker and 30-year-old Victor Alan Adams are being held on suspicion of child abuse and neglect.

The couple's three children - ages 2, 4 and 5 - now are in Child Protective Services custody.

The house is near 71st and Glendale avenues.
