PHOENIX -- The National Weather Service is continuing with an Excessive Heat Warning for metro Phoenix through Saturday night into Sunday morning. Temperatures are expected to be running five to 10 degrees above normal.
As of 3 p.m. Friday, Phoenix had reached a high of 111, just two degrees short of a record for today’s date. Saturday we’re forecasting a high of 110.
We’re also seeing some hints that the number of thunderstorms in the state will increase somewhat Saturday and Sunday, translating into slight chances for rain in the Valley.
At this point, it looks like Sunday afternoon has slightly better chances for rain. However, we wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a dust storm on Saturday evening.
