PHOENIX-- Looking to improve your credit score? Be careful. One website promising a higher credit score has caught the attention of the Better Business Bureau.
On a YouTube video link posted on its website, the company GetExcellentCredit.Org claims, “This can take less than 15 days. You will now be able to easily qualify for any credit that you apply for, guaranteed."
The Better Business Bureau says the site makes false credit promises to consumers. Get Excellent Credit. Org which is based here in Arizona, claims people looking for a new credit history can do so for a fee of up to $99, and see improvement in as little as 15 days.
The Better Business Bureau’s Felicia Thompson says there have been a number of complaints.
"Consumers who filed complaints with us, some of them alleged they haven't received the information they need or promised within that 15 day period," she says. "So a lot of them aren't able to get through to the customer line or respond by email so there's concern they're not living up to their promises."
The website goes on to claim, "Our proven program unconditionally guarantees you will qualify for personal loans, business loans, credit cards, auto loans, home loans and any other forms of credit that you may apply for."
The Better Business Bureau says it has asked the company to prove the legality of their claims but the company has not responded to that request. More than 100 inquiries to the BBB have been made within the past 30 days. "The company allegedly gives EIN numbers, employer identification numbers," Thompson says. "We've done a little research and have found the Federal Trade Commission, FTC, advises against using that other than business purposes."
By the way, Get Excellent Credit.Org was even using the Better Business Bureau's seal on its website, but recently removed it at the BBB’s request.
