TEMPE, Ariz. -- A 5-week-old cat is recovering after spending several days trapped inside a ceiling.
The Arizona Humane Society said an orange tabby named Libby was rescued this week after being discovered inside the ceiling of the Pyle Adult Recreation Center in Tempe.
Employees heard the cat crying for days, but didn’t know where the noise was coming from.
The Humane Society’s Emergency Animal Medical Technicians were called in, and the cat was discovered inside the ceiling.
Andy Gallo with the Humane Society wound up having to cut a hole in the ceiling to get to Libby, which wound up being a rather difficult task.
“Best, most destructive, most rewarding and hardest rescue to date,” said Gallo.
Libby didn’t have any injuries, but she was very hungry and weighed just over a pound.
She has been placed in foster care and will be up for adoption as soon as she gets to 2 pounds and can be spayed.
