TUCSON - In Tucson there are allegations of animal abuse at the Tucson rodeo.

Prods allegedly used on horses

There is video posted online that was taken by the group, Showing Animals Respect and Kindness or SHARK.

The video shows horses in the bucking competitions being made to buck with a prod.

SHARK said that a prod shocks the horses with up to 6-thousand volts of electricity.

This is something SHARK said is inhumane.

"Everybody who goes into that arena for the rodeo is watching a horse or watching horses that are bucking because we have what are called the tools of torture on them,” a representative said. “You can see by the way they cover up these guys know they're doing wrong.”

The general manager of the Tucson rodeo said the voltage isn't has high as SHARK indicates and said the prods are used in very limited circumstances and in accordance with the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.
