Police ask for public's help to catch suspect

PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Police Department is asking for help locating a suspect in a hit-and-run that left a pedestrian hospitalized.

The Phoenix Police Department received a call of a hit-and-run at 3100 W. Grand Ave. at approximately 3 a.m. on Sunday.

Police say Michelle Gonzales, 35, was crossing Grand Avenue in the rain when she was struck by a Chevy Malibu, which fled the scene.

The driver was a black male and police say there may have been three other occupants inside the car as it struck the victim.

Gonzales was transported to a local hospital where she remains in critical condition.

The suspect vehicle is possibly a 2000 or 2001 burgundy four-door Chevy Malibu.

Police say the vehicle may have damage to the front end of the car and possible windshield damage.
