PHOENIX -- Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon is working to fix his marriage.

He separated from Christa Severns last month and moved into a north-central Phoenix home owned by his friends.

His aides say the marriage has struggled due to the mayor's nearly round-the-clock public schedule.

The separation was recommended by the couple's marriage counselor.

The pair have been married for 14 years and have an 8-year-old son.
