UPDATE: Suspect charged in credit union, store robberies

GLENDALE -- County Attorney Andrew Thomas announced today that James Dean Losey, 57 (DOB 11/23/51), has been indicted on charges related to his alleged participation in two separate robberies, including a branch of an Arizona Federal Credit Union, during the month of November in Glendale. Losey, who is a resident of Glendale, was charged in the December 4, 2008 indictment on one count of Robbery, a class four felony, one count of Robbery, a class two dangerous felony, and one count of Misconduct Involving Weapons, a class four felony. He was arrested on November 26, 2008.
According to a Glendale Police probable cause statement, Losey is suspected of threatening to shoot a weapon and demanding cash of a teller at the Arizona FCU on November 6, 2008. Further to the statement, he is suspected of threatening to shoot a cashier and demanding cash of him at a Quick Stop store on November 23, 2008. Losey is believed to have received $945.00 from the credit union and $133.00 from the Quick Stop. In both cases, witnesses described the suspect to be dressed in a black shirt, brown cowboy hat and sunglasses. Police were also told by witnesses that the suspect at both locations fled in a Red Ford Ranger pickup truck.

The suspect is described as a white male between 55 and 60 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing about 200 pounds. He has grey hair, sideburns and a mustache. He was wearing a brown cowboy hat, a black T shirt, blue jeans and black boots. Surveillance photos are attached.
“This suspect is unusual for two reasons,” said Det. Nedd Wilkens. “He is older than a typical bank robber, the Western apparel was certainly different than we are used to seeing.” Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Nedd Wilkens at 623-930-3393. Calls to the main police number will also be accepted.
